Bone of contention
Every year there is a local inter-club friendly surf competition between Sumner SLSC and Taylors Mistake SLSC.
What is this competition about?
Well it’s over the contentious issue of which is the best Surf Life Saving Club…Obviously the clear answer is Taylors Mistake, unfortunately Sumner think they are.
So each year these age old clubs meet on the sands of Taylors Mistake to do battle for “The Bone of Contention” to clearly resolve this matter….well at least until next year anyway !
Points are awarded to each club throughout the event, based on placing’s and competitor numbers
So this is a call to all our Junior’s to help us win !!.
The event is on Saturday 19th November from 1.30pm at Taylors Mistake.
The events for Junior’s to compete in are:
1. Beach relay - 2 under 12s, 2 under 14s, 2 u16s, 2 u19s 2 open, 2 masters.
2. Beach flags - 1 boy and 1 girl only chosen for each age group u8, u10, u12, u14 so total 8 (can-not be same person as beach relay!)
3. Board race for u10, 12, 14 unlimited entries point for each competitor so we want as many as possible.
4. Surf race / run wade run unlimited entry this will be handicapped with youngest going first then older ones for mass finish.
As you can see the last two events are about numbers of competitors, as much as about winningIf your child can come please reply to ian_rae@xtra.co.nz with the child’s name, age and events they willing to have a go at. Could you also include your phone number just in case there are any last minute changes
