The team of Rory Jago (PC), Nick Smith, Brie Thomas, Ben Phillips, Harrison Reid, Viv Bickley (coach) and Mike Smith (manager) won the Canterbury Patrol Competition on Saturday 17th Jan. The team competed in a range of disciplines: run swim run; board rescue and tube rescue; IRB patient rescue; theory; CPR; first aid; and patrolling. The team's particular strengths were in the run swim run; board and tube rescue; CPR; and the patrol scenario. The team communicated extremely well, coordinated by Rory Jago who was the Patrol Captain in both the first aid scenario and the patrol scenario, and achieved 1st or 2nd placings in every component apart from the IRB race. Well done in particular to the three new members of the team, Brie, Harrison and Ben, who worked really hard to get upskilled in limited time. Thanks to Mike for managing the team.

Surf Life Saving Canterbury will be funding the Taylors team to travel to the National Patrol Competition on April the 4th in Whangamata, where the winners of each Regional competition will compete against each other. Hopefully we will bring home the trophy!!

Congratulations Taylors!

Also thanks to Dougal and all the other volunteers who made the competition happen.
