Just a reminder that K Day is this Sunday 13th starting at 9am at Taylors Mistake Beach.  A few of our new members have enquired about this event so this is some quick background;

In short it is an important day for our club where the top surf sports competitors from all the Canterbury Club's come to our beach to compete for The Kesteven Cup and the Black and White Cup.

It is a great day for everyone to come down and support your club.  We have 3 very competitive teams entered and they would love to have your support.  There is no Junior Surf so we would encourage all Parents and Juniors to come down and make this event a great day.  The weather forecast looks good and we will have a barbeque going.

For those that have an interest in the history of "K Day" I have extracted some information from "Guardians of the Mistake".

The "K"in "K Day" refer's to Frank Kesteven.  Frank Ketseven was the President of the club from 1917-1938 and at a meeting of the club on the 5th March 1918 at the Linwood Rugby Club Rooms (many members had strong Linwood roots) he bequeathed a cup to the club which was known as The Kesteven Cup.  The cup was to be competed for annually on club open day.

Every since then a competition has been held to compete for this cup - this day is universally known as "K Day".
