Through our parent organisation, Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ), Taylors Mistake Surf Life Saving Club actively supports the ongoing training and development of its members. A wide range of educational opportunities are available at a club, local, regional and national level and members are invited to contact us if they are interested in attending a course or wish to work towards gaining a particular qualification.
TMSLSC members commonly work towards some of the following qualifications:

Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 14 years or over, Refreshed Surf Lifeguard Award
Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 15 years or over, Refreshed Surf Lifeguard Award, Radio Communications Module, Current Surf First Aid, min 1 season active patrolling experience, swim 400m in under 8 minutes, club endorsement, IRB Crewperson module (recommended)
Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 18 years or over, Refreshed Surf Lifeguard Award, Current Advanced Surf First Aid, Radio Communications Module, Patrol Captain Award, Refreshed IRB driver Award, Swim 800m in under 14 mins, Run 3km in under 20 mins, Club endorsement to attend.
Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 15 years or over, Refreshed Surf Lifeguard Award, Radio Communications Module, Current Surf First Aid, min 2 years patrolling experience.
Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 14 years or over, Refreshed Surf Lifeguard Award
Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 16 years or over, Refreshed Surf Lifeguard Award (and held for at least 6 months), IRB Crewpersons certificate, Radio Communications Module.

Pre requisites: Member of TMSLSC, 18 years or over, Refreshed Senior Lifeguard Award – IRB drivers, Current SLS First Aid Level 1,
